(00) - Special: Federal State Border in Mexiko

United Mexican States, Estados Unidos Mexicanos

The United Mexican States is a federation comprising thirty-one states and a federal district, the capital Mexico City.

The major part of Mexico uses the CST Central Standard Time (=CET - 7 hours)
(=Hora Oficial Central)

Five States in the west however use the MST: Mountain Standard Time (=CET - 8 hours)
(=Hora Oficial de las Montañas)

Hence like in the USA or Canada you might enter a different time zone when crossing from one state into another.

Sinaloa is one of the 31 states of Mexico. It is bordered by the states of Sonora to the north, Chihuahua to the northeast, Durango to the east, and Nayarit to the south. To the west of Sinaloa lies the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California (Golfo de California).

Area: 58.328 km².
Capital: Culiacán

Durango is a Mexican State in the central northern part of the country. The Spanish named it after the town Durango in Vizcaya in the Basque Country. Most of the state is heavily mountainous and a good part forested, the Sierra Madre Occidental occupies the western and central part of the state.

Inhabitants: 1.45 Mios
Area: 123.181 km²
Capital: Durango
Timezone: CST (like Mexiko-City)
ISO 3166-2: MX-DGO
Postal abbr.: Dgo.

 Mexico Sinaloa:

On our way from the Sinaloa capital Culiacán to the State border along the Federal road SIN 3-24.

 Mexico Sinaloa/Durango:

After approx. 40 miles and 2 hours ride, we reach the State border in the Sierra Madre mountains:

Translation of street board:
End (of the State) Sinaloa
Start (of the State) Durango

 Mexico  Durango/Sinaloa:

And looking back the same information board, yet with reversed information:

Translation of street board:
End (of the State) Durango
Start (of the State) Sinaloa

...as well as the first (or last) village in Sinaloa "La Cruz".

 Mexico Durango / Sinaloa:

The border is visible on the road, and minus crossing from one state into another, we also have to reset our watch as we go from Mountain Time to Central Time Zone.

 Mexico Durango:

Just a few yards further up the road, a touristic sign informs us about the first town on Durango territory:'Tamazula, DGO'.

 Mexico  Sinaloa/Durango:

Border on the road.

 Mexico Durango:

Arrival in the first built-up area after a few miles: Tamazula city gate.
